Final two episodes of Choriki Robo Galatt are now up. Michael attempts to get a closer look at an enemy base under construction somewhere on Planet Blood while the remaining Syndicate members plan to mess up their construction with bombs in Ep. 24, while both the Galatt crew & the remaining Syndicate members team up to fight against the Driarian army in Ep. 25.
I mentioned in a previous post that I had some comments to make about this show's final arc—due to various circumstances, I'm not really in the mood to go & make a full essay on this like I had intended, so I'll probably just post a TL;DR version or something.
Bandai—Galatt's sponsor—wasn't happy with the low ratings this show was seemingly getting at the time, so they demanded that Sunrise try & add in more combat and a serious story arc. They did exactly that, only for the show to get cancelled halfway through Ep. 23's production. As a result, they had to hastily wrap up the story in two episodes, ending it all at Ep. 25.
I have mixed feelings about it. The show attempts to combine both its comedic themes with its serious storyline and IMO it just really does not mesh out all that well. Lots of recurring characters don't get the closure they deserve and some of them just outright surprisingly don't even show up in the finale at all. I understand that this is really isn't Sunrise's fault and they were just trying to work with whatever they could at that point, but it's still really unfortunate regardless.
The arc's not horrible, but definitely not a satisfactory way to end this show. A reboot/remake that properly tells this story from start to finish the way it was meant to be told would be nice, but realistically I don't think that's happening any time soon.
Anyways—what follows now for this project, after this?
As mentioned in Ep. 20's release post, I changed the typesetting for this show. I'm re-watching the earlier episodes to make sure the typesetting is consistent & doesn't fuck up anywhere but also because the timing for the earlier episodes once again doesn't match my current tastes for how I prefer stuff to be timed. I also want to bump up the show's quality further and actually want someone to go & QC this show from start to finish.
All of that will take time, naturally, but once I get around to finishing it then I will go & finally put out a final batch release for this show.
I'll touch this show again if it gets a BD release... ever.
That said—both episodes are now available for downloading at the usual spot. A proper credits list for this show will also be made alongside the final batch.
Thank you for all your work over the years uploading this!
